Cade is a Mediterranean juniper, close to common juniper, but which is distinquished by its large size, which can reach up to 15 meters in height.
Its wood is fatty and its oil is an anti-fungal and repells insects, making it rotproof : one could call it French Sandalwood.
In the South of France, one places a piece of Cade in armoires to repell insects and perfume linens.
Used as an incense, it gives forth, first of all, a sugary sweetness from which develop strong spicy and woody notes, inducing an appreciable calm and assurance in the mind.
It also has antiseptic qualities : it was once burned in hospitals to freshen and cleanse the air.
In a mixture, it makes an excellent base which strengthens the power of other incenses, particularly resins (Oliban, Peruvian Copal, Boswellia Serrata, Gugul, etc...)
